Hay

We have approximately 90 acres of alfalfa-orchard grass mix hay, that produces up to five crops of hay annually. Most of the hay is made in large round bales and we have room to keep approximately half of this hay inside. We use about half of our high-quality hay for own cow herd and horse needs, and offer the extra for sale. Our prices are based on current market conditions and the hay's quality.

Our large round-baled hay is ideal for commercial cow herds, dairy herds and horses. The alfalfa is high in protein and energy, and the orchard grass is preferred for horses. We are able to test the hay through a certified lab.

We also produce small square bales of this mix and some waterway grass bales. Small squares are produced the old-fashioned way, stacked and stored by hand. This hay can be purchased off the hayrack in-season, or from our off-season storage barns (by appointment only). Most of this hay is from the second and third cutting. We can deliver within a 15 to 20-mile distance from Vinton, and a delivery fee will be added based on distance and quantity.

Prices

Due to the dry conditions and strong demand for our hay, we are currently sold out of the 2017 hay crop. We will have hay again for sale next year. Contact us if you are interested in contracting some of next year's production.

Straw

Our crop rotation currently includes 30 to 40 acres of oats annually, which also results in good quality clean straw. We bale this in small square bales for use on our own farm, and offer the extra for sale. Our straw is great source of livestock bedding, especially for smaller pens and during calving season. Straw can be purchased off the hayrack in season, or from our off-season storage barns (by appointment only). We can deliver within a 15 to 20-mile distance from Vinton, and a delivery fee will be added based on distance and quantity.

Prices

We currently have an ample supply of straw available for $3.00 per bale, picked up on our farm. Please contact us to purchase.
