BJK Farms offers purebred Hereford bulls and heifers for sale, local farm-raised beef, and hay and straw. We’re based in Vinton, Iowa since 2007.

Our breeding program focuses on:

docile temperament
easy calving
growth and carcass performance

We use DNA-enhanced Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) to predict how each animal’s offspring will perform. DNA testing also guarantees that our cattle are free of all known genetic defects.

All of our bulls are registered with the American Hereford Association.

BJK Farms cattle have shown at national expos such as the Junior National Hereford Expo, Minnesota Beef Expo, and the Iowa Junior Hereford Association Preview Show. Recently, a BJK heifer won Grand Champion Bred and Owned Heifer at the IJHA Preview Show in 2019.

The Iowa Hereford Breeders Association (IHBA) promotes the Hereford breed in Iowa. In 2021, BJK Farms featured in the IHBA Hereford Tour, which annually showcases various farms and ranches across Iowa to highlight Hereford cattle, breeding programs, and farm-to-table operations. Brian is a long-time member of the Benton County Cattlemen’s Association and serves on the board of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. These organizations focus on addressing local, state, and federal issues that impact the long-term viability of cattle farming in Iowa.
